Mária Túry (1930—1992)
Painter, double Munkácsy – prize winner, precious artist.
From the pure, relaxed realism, by the beginning of the 60’s she developped her unique world of forms, rather constructive with abstract effect, however representational, colourful painting style, the subjects of which she always derived from her close enviroment.
In her later period, she elaborated the questions of painting in abstract, non-figurative compositions. She created excellently both in small enamels and graphics and int he monumental tasks such as stained glass, wooden marquetry, mosaic or gobelin.

His expressive representational compositions, then the representation of the labourer-world which witness for his social sensitivity, or in the following his social-realism paintings and the constructive way of editing his still-lives and landscapes which were typical in the 40’s, changed into a more relaxed and spreaded representing, as regards his later, lyrical-abstract works. He made book-illustrations, mural works, paintings and multigraphs at the same time.
His mosaics and stained windows decorate several institutions, his paintings can be found both in Hungarian and foreign collections. Apart from his life-work as a painter, he was also acknowledged for his activity in art-pedagogy.
